3 Tips for Acing ESL Test Prep

Updated: Aug 13

This is you: You speak English. I've encountered multiple clients who have assumed that their level of English proficiency was more than sufficient. While they are from English-speaking countries, their attempts to prepare independently unfortunately failed. Then, they realized this required professional assistance. Someone (me) to pinpoint the linguistic skills required for: college admissions, work VISAs, or plain-old migration from country X to Y. In a nutshell, having knowledge of English will not necessarily guarantee your ESL testing success.

Do you REALLY gamble on something so crucial?

Here are 3 reasons why you select me:

1. I will expose you to Global English. Simply knowing English from your homeland, is INSUFFICIENT. WHY? Well, most of these tests expose you to global English. Thus, your current linguistic toolkit may be lacking in many areas. Quick quiz: What's the difference between transport and transportation? Answer: Depending on the context, they mean the same thing or something else entirely.

2. I will fine-tune your pronunciation. You think you're saying, "I'd like some rice, please." However, what others hear is, "I'd like some lice, please." /L/ and /r/ are distinct sounds, but as someone who grew up in a part of the world where /l/ = /r/, it's eye-opening. After all, there is a BIG difference between "rice" and "lice."

3. I will assist you in your ESL test preparation quest. You will gain an insider's perspective on what it TRULY takes to beat the house (a.k.a. the test). How? I have a particular set of skills that I've acquired in my career that suit me for getting you ready. When you sit the test, your confidence from having been appropriately prepared will ultimately lead you one step closer in successfully attaining your dream.

In summary, if you want to take a gamble on achieving your goals, you can do that on your own. Conversely, if you want to stack the odds in your favor, reach out to me for a free 15-minute consultation. Let's beat the house!
